Hyper Backup Explorer
Hyper Backup Explorer is a compact desktop tool that helps you quickly browse and copy different versions of backup data for immediate use.
Hyper Backup Explorer works on Windows, Mac, Ubuntu, and Fedora platforms.
Note:
Hyper Backup Explorer can only be used to find backup data but not backup LUNs.
To browse backup files:
- Open Hyper Backup Explorer, and click Browse Backup File.
- Find the SynologyHyperBackup.bkpi in your backup target and open it.
- To switch between backup versions, perform either action:
- Click the calendar icon on the bottom-left corner, and click on the date marked in red (available with backup versions).
- Click the right or left arrow to switch between versions.
- To find another backup target, click Browse another backup file and continue.
To retrieve backup files
You can retrieve backup files in either way depending on the local platform:
- All platforms: Right-click the folder/file and click Copy to to save it to the destination.
- Windows/Mac: Drag and drop the folder/file to the destination.
Note:
- The path of backup location or copy destination cannot exceed 32767 characters (Windows) or 4095 characters (Mac, Ubuntu and Fedora) in length.
- You cannot browse a backup target that is currently receiving backup data.
- You can copy only files or folders inside a shared folder.
- Copying symbolic links to Windows computers is not supported.
To filter folders/files:
You can set up search criteria to filter folders/files contained in the current view.
- Click the magnifying glass icon on the top right corner, and specify the criteria: Keyword, Type, Size (KB), and Date Range
- Click Search to filter the folders/files that match your criteria in the current view.
Note:
- You cannot filter shared folders in the backup target; only the contained files and subfolders can be filtered.
- Folders/files within an encrypted backup target cannot be filtered.
