Device enumeration uses the List Adapters CLI command (list) to discover the Emulex adapters installed in the host system. It is executed by the elxu_display_device_list() function in the elxu_common.c module.

The function tries to open each device in order, starting with device 0. If a device is successfully opened, its information is displayed, and then the device is closed. The process continues until an attempt to open a device fails.
