Site-to-Site VPN

Site-to-Site VPN service allows local networks in different physical locations to securely communicate with each other over the Internet. This page guides you through the setup of Site-to-Site VPN and the settings at the General and Encryption tabs.

Set up a Site-to-Site VPN connection

Follow the steps below to establish a Site-to-Site VPN connection between a pair of Synology Router:

  1. Set up a pair of Synology Router and activate the Site-to-Site VPN feature on their SRM (refer to this web page for more information on our licensing plan).
  2. On either of your Synology Router, go to VPN Plus Server > Site-to-Site VPN.
  3. If you have not previously used Synology VPN, please sign in to Synology Account and enable the service for free. Once enabled, the feature will always be available for Synology Router.
  4. Click Add > Manually.
  5. Configure the settings at the General and Encryption tabs, and then save the settings.
  6. Click Export Profile to export the VPN configurations to your computer.
  7. Go to VPN Plus Server > Site-to-Site VPN on the other Synology Router.
  8. Click Add > Import Profile.
  9. Select the profile you have just exported from the previous Synology Router, and save the setting.
  10. You have now set up a Site-to-Site VPN connection between the two devices.
