Server Settings
You can set up your DiskStation as a system log server to receive logs from clients over the Internet. All logs will be saved in Syslog Server's database.
Follow the steps below for settings:
- Tick the Enable Syslog Server checkbox.
- Choose a folder from the drop-down menu to store the Syslog Server database.
- Select transfer protocol. There are 2 protocols - TCP and UDP.
- Fill in the server port for receiving logs. The default port number is 514.
- Tick Enable secure connection (SSL) to secure the syslog connection with encryption mechanism.
- Click Apply to complete the settings.
Note:
- Secure connection is only available for the TCP transfer protocol.

Only BSD formatted logs are supported.
- You can click the Export certificate button to export the certificate for setting up syslog client.
