Server Settings

You can set up your DiskStation as a system log server to receive logs from clients over the Internet. All logs will be saved in Syslog Server's database.

Follow the steps below for settings:

  1. Tick the Enable Syslog Server checkbox.
  2. Choose a folder from the drop-down menu to store the Syslog Server database.
  3. Select transfer protocol. There are 2 protocols - TCP and UDP.
  4. Fill in the server port for receiving logs. The default port number is 514.
  5. Tick Enable secure connection (SSL) to secure the syslog connection with encryption mechanism.
  6. Click Apply to complete the settings.
    Note:
  1. Secure connection is only available for the TCP transfer protocol.
  2. Only BSD formatted logs are supported.
  3. You can click the Export certificate button to export the certificate for setting up syslog client.
