Information
In the Information tab, you can modify the device information of your camera.
To modify camera information, do any of the following:
- Enter a name to identify this camera in Name.
- Enter the camera's network information in IP address and Port. Both IP addresses and hostnames are accepted. You can also click Search, allowing the system to search for cameras installed in the same domain. The system will automatically display the brand, model, IP address, port number, and MAC address. Select a camera from the list and click OK to automatically complete the IP address, Port, Brand, and Model fields.
- Select the camera's brand and model from the Brand and Model drop-down lists.
- Enter the username and password of the camera's administrator account in Username and Password.
- Click Test Connection to see if the camera snapshot is correctly displayed in the preview area.
If you are using an ONVIF camera:
- Select ONVIF from the Brand drop-down list.1
- Select your camera model from the Model drop-down list.2
- If your camera supports NTSC or PAL, select this standard from the TV standard drop-down list.
- If your camera is connected via a video server, select a video channel from the Video channel drop-down list.
- Select the video format from the Video format drop-down list (for Quick Setup mode).
- If your camera supports audio, select the audio format from the Audio format drop-down list (for Quick Setup mode).1
- Enter the username and password of the camera's administrator account in Username and Password.
- Click Test Connection to see if the camera snapshot is correctly displayed in the preview area.
Limitations:
- Camera name is case sensitive. 1 to 32 Unicode characters are allowed, excluding the following symbols:
! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] \ ^ ` { } | ~
The first character cannot be a minus sign or a space, and the last character cannot be a space.
- Source path is case sensitive. 1 to 256 Unicode characters are allowed. The format is "username:password@IP address" or "hostname:port number/source path". If username and password are empty, then ":" and "@" can be skipped.
- File: Only supports .mp4 format files from shared folders on Synology NAS.
- Username is case sensitive. 1 to 32 Unicode characters are allowed.
- Password is case sensitive, and should be within 64 displayable characters, including letters, numbers, signs, and space.

- If your camera brand is not listed, you can select User Define and enter the camera's Source path or use .mp4 format files on NAS as the video source. User Define supports MJPEG (HTTP, RTSP), H.264 (RTSP), H.265 (RTSP), and MPEG4 (RTSP) video formats, only AAC audio format is supported. Use the corresponding video format and port number according to the capability of your camera. Please consult the camera's manufacturer for the camera source path.
- If your camera model is not listed, you can select a similar model or the Generic model (if available). If you select Generic model, Surveillance Station will get the camera's capabilities according to the current settings of the camera. When your Surveillance Station and Device Pack versions are updated, you can try to click Load Capability to check if any camera features are newly supported by the new package and add-on version.
