VisualStation
VisualStation is a live view and playback solution designed to supplement and enhance your Surveillance Station configuration. With VisualStation, you can enjoy the rich features of Surveillance Station without the need to constantly keep a computer running.
Note:
- Pairing with Surveillance Station is only needed on VisualStation devices running VisualStation 3.0 or below. Starting from VisualStation 4.0, users can sign in to VisualStation directly.
- From version 4.0 and above, VisualStation allows users to upgrade firmware, launch Live View remotely from Client Management, and make other management after signing in to VisualStation. Click here for more information on Client Management.
- This application has to be enabled in Application Center.
Pair VisualStation with $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$
After being paired with your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$, VisualStation can be connected to an HDMI or VGA* display, allowing you to easily monitor, control, and record events using the IP cameras configured with Surveillance Station. Before pairing with your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$, VisualStation must be properly set up and connected to the local network. For instructions regarding hardware setup, please refer to the VisualStation Quick Installation Guide.
To pair VisualStation with $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$:
- Click Add.
- On the Add VisualStation page, you can select which VisualStation to pair with your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$. The following options are available:
- Search
: Browse all VisualStation devices within the local network. Double click to select a device.
Note:
- If multiple VisualStation devices are detected within the local network, check the MAC address located on the back of your VisualStation to verify.
- Make sure the status of the VisualStation is Unlocked, otherwise pairing will be unavailable. To unlock VisualStation, use your mouse to click the Unlock button or the lock
icon on the top-right corner of VisualStation display.
- Name: Edit the device name of VisualStation.
- Test Connection: Test and confirm connection to VisualStation.
- On the System Settings page, you can edit Network Settings, Time Zone, and Display Language.
- On the Edit Live View page, you can drag and drop individual IP cameras and e-Maps from the left field into the right field to create a custom Live View layout. Or click the Camera Group button
to assign existing camera groups. The following options are available:
- Name: Create a name for the new Live View layout.
- Set as default: Sets the new Live View layout as your default layout.
- Fixed aspect ratio: Tick this box to use the default aspect ratio of IP cameras. If not ticked, IP camera aspect ratios will be adjusted to fit the Live View layout.
- Customize: Edit layout of Live View channels.
- Preview/Text: Toggle to show/hide the preview of IP cameras added to the Live View layout.
- Click Finish to save configurations, and the pairing of VisualStation with your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$ will start. Once successfully paired, VisualStation will be ready for action.
- After pairing is complete, we recommend you to lock VisualStation to the paired Synology product. Locking VisualStation to a paired Synology product prevents the VisualStation from being paired with any other Synology product within the local network.
- By default, VisualStation is locked to the paired Synology product. If you want to lock VisualStation again by yourself, use your mouse to click the Lock button or the lock
icon on the top-right corner of VisualStation display. When its status changes to Locked, the icon will also change to
.
To edit VisualStation settings:
- Select a VisualStation and click Edit. Select one of the following options:
- Edit VisualStation: Edit Information (e.g. Device Name, Test Connection) or System Settings (e.g. Network Settings, Time Zone, Display Language).
- Edit Live View: Create new or edit existing Live View layouts.
- Click Save.
To unpair VisualStation from a Synology product:
- Select the VisualStation you would like to unpair.
- Click Delete, and click Yes to confirm the deletion.
To enable or disable VisualStation:
- Select the VisualStation you would like to enable/disable.
- Click Enable.
- Select Enable or Disable.
To lock or unlock VisualStation:
You can choose either of the following methods:
- Select the VisualStation you would like to lock/unlock, and click Lock/Unlock.
- Click the lock icon on the top-right corner of VisualStation display, and select Lock me (Recommended) or Unlock me.
To reset your VisualStation to factory defaults:
- Press and hold the RESET button on the VisualStation until you hear a beep.
- The status of the VisualStation will appear as Reset on the VisualStation list.
Note:
To pair VisualStation with your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$ again, please first delete the entry from the paired VisualStation list by selecting the device and clicking Delete.
