Access Controllers
In Access Controllers, you can add, edit, enable, disable, and delete controllers. You can also edit the door authorization time and method, as well as customize door privileges for individual cardholders.
Add Controllers
To add a controller:
- Click Add. An Add Controller window will appear.
- Enter a name to identify this controller in Name.
- Enter the controller's network information in IP address and Port. Both IP addresses and hostnames are accepted. You can also click Search, allowing the system to search for controllers installed in the same domain. The system will automatically display the model, IP address, port number, and MAC address. Select a controller from the list and click OK to automatically complete the IP address, Port, and Model fields.
- Select your controller model from the Model drop-down list.
- Enter the username and password of the controller's administrator account in Username and Password.
- Click Test Connection to verify controller connectivity.
- Click Next to continue configuring door settings. If you see the advanced settings page directly, please set up the hardware configurations on the web-based interface of your controller.
- Enter a name to identify this door in Door.
- To pair this door to an existing camera:
- Tick the Set a paired camera as a video source checkbox.
- Select a recording server of Local host from the Server drop-down list.
- Select the camera you wish to pair with this door from the Camera drop-down list.
- Set up the time and method to access the door in the Admittance section:
- Click PIN, Card number, Card raw, Custom, or Delete, and then select any grid cells. To select the entire day or hour in each day, click the day or hour.
- In the Custom Settings drop-down list, you can determine the required identification items to access the door.
- Note: The Admittance section may not be edited when entering and exiting using REX (request to exit) instead of a reader. Please go to AXIS Entry Manager to edit door access settings.
- Click Next to continue configuring advanced settings.
- Select a server from the Network time server drop-down list. You may also choose to disable this function.
- Select the time zone of this controller from the Time zone drop-down list.
- Specify the Access duration and Long access duration for the door in the Door section.
- Access duration will be applied to regular cardholders.
- For specific cardholders with special requirements, please go to Cardholder > Edit > Credentials to enable the Long access duration option.
- If the door has a reader installed, you can set up the Entry permission PIN length and Exit permission PIN length for the door in the Door section.
- Note: Entry permission PIN length and Exit permission PIN length settings may not be displayed when using REX (request to exit) instead of a reader for entering and exiting.
- Click Finish to complete the setup.
Limitations:
- The controller name is case sensitive. 1 to 32 Unicode characters are allowed, excluding the following symbols:
! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] \ ^ ` { } | ~
- Username is case sensitive. 1 to 32 Unicode characters are allowed.
- Password is case sensitive, and should be within 24 displayable characters, including letters, numbers, signs, and space.
- Entry permission PIN length and Exit permission PIN length can range from 4 to 32 digits. If the installed reader does not support this setting, it may not be possible to set this length range or may only take effect when set at the minimum/maximum length.
Edit Controllers
To edit a controller's settings:
- Select the controller you want to change settings for, and click Edit. You can also double-click a controller to change its settings.
- Click Finish to save your changes.
Enable or Disable Controllers
Newly added controllers must be enabled before they can be managed and perform all supported actions.
To enable or disable controllers:
- Select the controller you want to enable or disable, and click Enable or Disable from the Enable drop-down list.
Note:
- Disabling a controller will not delete its settings.
Set Up Privileges
You can manage privileges for each user and door to help minimize unnecessary security risks.
To set up privileges:
Delete Controllers
- Select the controller you want to delete and click Delete.
- You will see a confirmation message. Click Yes to continue.
Note:
- Deleting a controller will also delete its settings. A controller's cardholder information and logs will also be permanently deleted from Surveillance Station.
