Sharing Notes
This section will show you how to share your notes/notebooks as well as manage notes/notebooks other DSM users share with you. When sharing notes/notebooks, you can share publically via social networks and with other DSM users. Notes/notebooks shared publically are view only. For notes/notebooks shared with other DSM users, you may allow them to modify as well. When working on the same note across multiple sessions, you can click Sync now! to retrieve the latest data from your Synology NAS. The different panels as well as newest note content/information will be updated. Notes you share with others are listed under Shared Notes.
When other DSM users share notes/notebooks with you, these notes/notebooks will appear in the menu panel under Joined Notebooks. Notebooks will appear under Joined Notebooks > Username while notes appear under Joined Notebooks > Username > Joined Notes.
Since you are not the owner of notes/notebooks shared with you, you cannot perform functions such as encrypting, tagging, and sharing. You can right-click a joined note/notebook and select Leave. The joined note/notebook will no longer appear in Note Station. Finally, you can copy a joined note to an existing notebook by opening it and clicking Copy in the note panel.
To publically share your notes:
- Open the note you want to share.
- In the upper-right click Share.
- Check Enable public share.
- Note Station creates a public link in Public Share Link. This link is ready to be shared. Opening this link will open the note in a new browser tab.
- You may also conveniently share your note directly via Email, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and Plurk. Click on any of these buttons to share.
- Click OK.
To share your notes with other DSM users:
- Open the note you want to share.
- In the upper-right click Share.
- In the Username box, enter a DSM username. DSM will suggest usernames once you start typing.
- Choose View or Modify to set the permissions for that user.
- Click Add to share your note with that user. You can add multiple users.
- Click OK.
To publically share your notebook:
- Right-click the notebook you want to share from the menu panel. You can also right-click a notebook in the browser panel after clicking Notebooks in the menu panel.
- Select Share.
- Check Enable public share.
- Note Station creates a public link in Public Share Link. This link is ready to be shared. Opening this link will open the notebook in a new browser tab.

To share your notebook with other DSM users:
- Right-click the notebook you want to share from the menu panel. You can also right-click a notebook in the browser panel after clicking Notebooks in the menu panel.

Note:
- When sharing notes with other DSM users, you will need to create accounts for each user. Please go to Control Panel > User to create a user profile. Be sure to enable Note Station for each account. For more information, please refer to DSM Help.
- You will receive DSM notifications for joined notes/notebooks. Other DSM users will receive DSM notifications when you share notes/notebooks with them.
- Previews for attachments are not available when viewing publically shared notes.
