Mail System Migration
Synology MailPlus Server provides a couple of methods to easily migrate your mail system on your local Synology NAS, or from one Synology NAS to another.
Mail System Migration on the Local Synology NAS
On the local Synology NAS, you can transfer your mail system from the previous Synology Mail Server to Synology MailPlus Server without any additional configurations.
Mail System Migration from a Remote Synology NAS
To migrate your mail system from a remote Synology NAS, you need to enable the Network Backup Service on it first.
For Synology Mail Server on DSM 5.2 and earlier:
- Sign in to the remote Synology NAS from which you wish to migrate the mail system.
- Go to Backup & Replication > Backup Services and tick the Enable network backup service checkbox.
- Click Apply to save the settings.
Note:
- For more information, please refer to DSM Help > Backup & Replication > Backup Services.
For Synology Mail Server on DSM 6.0 and above:
- Sign in to the remote Synology NAS from which you wish to migrate the mail system.
- Go to Control Panel > File Services > rsync and tick the Enable rsync service checkbox.
- Click Apply to save the settings.
Note:
- Since Synology has enhanced the security mechanism in DSM 6.0, you will need to sign in to the remote Synology NAS via SSH/Telnet to configure corresponding settings before proceeding with the mail system migration.
