The Archive Settings page provides options to configure how and where logs received by Log Center are archived. Use the options below to specify the storage location and rules to automatically create archives of logs.
The destination refers to the folder where logs received by Log Center are stored and archived. Click Select location to choose the folder.
If you want the local logs of the Synology NAS to be archived to the same destination, tick the box marked Archive local logs to the storage location specified above. In most cases, this provides more storage space for local logs, allowing you to maintain more complete system logs.
Local logs (System, Connection, and File Transfer logs) are saved in a system partition that has limited storage. By enabling Archive local logs to the storage location specified above, all logs will be archived in the specified destination according to Archive rules. To browse archived local logs, click Open log archive and select SYNOSYSLOGDB__LOCALARCH.DB.
Logs are automatically archived according to the criteria defined in the Archive rules section. Logs can be automatically archived when the size of the log database reaches a specified size, the number of individual logs reaches a specified number, or logs reach a specified age.
If you did not enable archive log function, previous log will be deleted when accumulated log exceeds log database's maximum retainable log number. Please refer to the table below to see each protocol's maximum retainable log number.
Protocol | Maximum Retainable Log |
---|---|
AFP | 20,000 |
File Station | 20,000 |
FTP | 20,000 |
SMB | 100,000 |
