Disk Status

This page contains tabs displaying the status of disks within the high-availability cluster. Each server's respective tab shows the following information.

To replace malfunctioning disks:

  1. Check the disk number.
  2. Replace the malfunctioning disk with a new one. For steps regarding hard disk installation, please see the Quick Installation Guide for your Synology product.
  3. Go to Storage Status.
  4. Select the damaged volume.
  5. Click Repair to repair the volume.

Note:

The capacity of replacement hard disks must be equal to or larger than the malfunctioning hard disk.

To add new disks to a high-availability cluster:

Hard disks can be added to the high-availability cluster in order to expand capacity. Before adding any hard disks, please see below.

To add hard disks:

  1. Insert the hard disks in corresponding slots of the active and passive servers. For example, if you insert one hard disk in slot 1 of the active server, then you must insert the corresponding hard disk in slot 1 of the passive server.
  2. Go to Storage Manager > Volume (or Disk Group/iSCSI LUN/RAID Group depending on your situation and model). Select the volume you want to expand, click the Manage button, and follow the instructions to add the hard disks.
  3. Once the hard disks have been successfully added, return to Synology High Availability > Storage Status to check if the status is Normal.
